Social Media in business is becoming more and more necessary as our society gets more and more technological. It's not always easy to grow a following and it can get super frustrating at times. We get asked all the time how we grew our following so quickly. So if you want to get in on some of our secrets, sit back, relax and let’s get social!
Ok let’s get one thing out of the way here, Social Media doesn’t have to be hard. I mean I know it’s not for everyone, but it is something that is necessary in business especially in this day and age. So many people are scared to get a handle on this social media thing, but it doesn’t have to be like that.
One thing I would definitely recommend is to know your audience. Who they are, what they do, where they are located etc. Knowing your audience will help you target your content better and gain a higher reach. It is also a good idea to know what kind of posts your audience will engage with. The goal is always high engagement, so knowing this type of information is extremely valuable. You may be asking yourself why engagement is so important, and the truth is Facebook will more likely show your content if you get a higher engagement. Remember Facebook is SOCIAL Media, they are working hard to keep it social.

The next piece of advice I would have for you is to post regularly. If you post only a couple of times a month, its very likely your content will not be seen. Facebook wants people on their website interacting with content and if there’s nothing on your page, there's nothing to interact with. A good place to start is to post at least twice a day and for those of you who may think that's a bit excessive consider this, (we post 4 times a day). You want to hit the majority of your audience and if you post once in the morning but the majority of your audience is active at night, the likelihood they will see your post is slim. Also keep in mind on average, Facebook will show your posts to about 10% of your audience, (remember this is a ballpark number and individual stats may vary) so not every person will see your posts.
One surefire way to increase your reach and engagement is to utilize Facebook Live. Video does very well on Facebook and will be more likely to reach a larger portion of your audience. Facebook Lives are very interactive and engaging for your audience because they can comment and ask questions in real time. Yes I know, the thought of going live can be daunting, believe me, I’m right there with you, I find it’s a lot easier to go live if there is someone there with me.
Do not underestimate the power of advertising on Facebook, I know it's hard to rationalize paying for advertising on Social Media, but believe me, it works. Facebook is one of the largest social media platforms out there, so it almost seems silly to ignore marketing on such a large platform. You have the ability to reach people locally and beyond through advertising on Facebook. If you want to really grow your presence I would definitely recommend running an ad or two. The ads don’t have to be expensive or run for long periods of time which can really help you test out different strategies.
