Well as some of you know by now my business partners, Gabriel and Marco were featured on HGTV’s Flea Market Flip. Some days I still can’t believe that actually happened! Over two years later and I still get so excited thinking about it! I know it was a dream come true for them. They got to showcase their talents to a national audience. Not to mention they would be on TV and let's face it, that's pretty cool. I know you want to hear from them and you will, I promise….patience….I have a role in this too, promise. Let’s start at the beginning. Gabe and I first met working for another company, and we became fast friends. One day we were talking about this show that he has always wanted to be on. Can you guess what show that was? Yes you got it, Flea Market Flip. He kept saying he wanted to be on the show someday. Well I had something other than someday in mind. I knew Gabe was very talented, I mean he made me a gorgeous bookshelf for goodness sakes! It took some convincing but he said if I find the info he would sign up. So like the persistent pain I am I googled the information for Flea Market Flip and sent an email to their casting department. We didn’t hear anything back for about 2 weeks and when we finally did, they said that casting for season 7 had just ended. Bummer.
Almost a year had passed when one day Gabe and I were going to a Flea Market ( cause you know, one needs more furniture, and you can never have enough), there was THE email. “We love your work, we would like to set up an interview with our casting director”. OMG! Let me tell you, the car ride home was never ending. We were ready to jump out of our seats. That weekend Gabe, Marco and I held mock interviews trying to think of what the casting director might say or ask. The interview was to happen over Skype so we practiced Skype calls until we had all the kinks worked out. Yeah that did NOTHING. During the interview Skype crashed, nothing's ever that easy. [ Now for those of you who are concerned about the botched interview, don’t worry, they were able to talk to the casting director again.] Obviously I wasn’t there for the interview but I'm pretty sure they charmed their way into her heart like they charm everyone else. ![]()
After the interview, they didn't hear anything for about two or three weeks, so we went about our normal lives and we really didn’t talk much about it either in fear of jinxing the possibilities. Then one night, I was working the closing shift, exciting!!! Not really lol. Anyway, I happened to be by the phone when it rang. Gabe called...OH.MY.GOD. Gabe and Marco were selected to be on Flea Market Flip! I remember having to keep my excitement in check because I was at work and my manager was standing right next to me. As soon as I got off the phone, I went to the front of the establishment and did a little happy dance, [our customers probably thought I was nuts.] I knew they would get on the show I just knew it! Now it’s time for the juicy Flea Market Flip secrets…..Are you ready? Well then, stay tuned to hear all about Gabe and Marco’s Flea Market Flip experience! Imagine that. One will have to wait for the next chapter? I know, it's awful but if you really can’t wait, you can find their Flea Market Flip episode here.
