Hey there friends, it has been a while! I mean we have been super busy at the store lately. If you haven’t heard we have recently expanded our workshop space, held a successful open house and also launched a website building course (which you can learn more about here) And if that hasn't kept us busy enough, we also have big plans for adding more workshops, launching new products and planning for our 3rd anniversary event, so you can say busy is a bit of an understatement. In today’s blog I wanted to talk about something deeply personal for me and probably for Gabe and Marco too. Something that has affected me for quite sometime and as a result has affected everything around me. For the past few years, I have been easily distracted, forgetful, not completing things on time no matter how hard I try, among other things. Some may call me lazy, some may say it’s due to stress but whatever it was, it affected my life EVERYDAY. Then it started affecting the people around me, so I needed to figure out what was going on. Now it’s hard enough running a business, let alone a business with two people that I respect more than anything in this world and to feel like you are letting them down 24/7 is not easy. Something had to change and quick. So to save you all the boring details ,I finally had my answer. Apparently I have Adult ADD. I mean who knew that was a thing? I sure didn't ...I mean I was the most studious kid when I was in school, always paying attention, completing assignments, I would have never guessed in a million years I would have ADD ...and I’m not saying its a bad thing, honestly I was glad to finally have some answers. So anyway, bringing me to the point of today’s blog ...I do NOT like being on any type of medication. I hate taking cough medicine when I’m sick. The most I’ll take is an aspirin when I have a headache, even then I’m iffy about it. I normally take under the recommended dose, so needless to say I am not thrilled about the idea of being put on medication to help handle the ADD symptoms, although I will give it a try to see how it works, but I have a while before that happens. So I was thinking about what I could do in the meantime ...then the answer hit me ...CRYSTALS. I mean everyone knows that I’m obsessed with my Amethyst that helps to keep me calm , so why not try a few crystals to help keep me focused and on task. So I did what any good reacher would do. I went to someone who is infinitely smarter than me, our resident crystal expert, Marco and his collection of crystal books. One thing I found is that some of the books, but not all lump ADD and ADHD together which I, for someone who is not hyperactive in any way, shape or form, knew I had to do some more digging. After a while, I did find my answer and in addition to Amethyst, which I feel like I write about any chance I can in our crystals blogs, I found some great options. 1.AgateThe first crystal I found was Agate. Now Agate comes in approximately 8,980 forms ...(I’m joking) but in all reality, there are many types of Agate. And with stones that come in multiple varieties there are properties that all of the varieties possess and properties that only certain agate crystals possess. For the sake of this blog, I am going to be talking about the universal properties of Agate. Agate is a stone that enhances mental function which can help improve concentration ...so instead of being like the dog from Up...you know, the one that is in the middle of a conversation then suddenly yells ….squirrel….one can focus and complete a task or two. 2.Citrine Citrine is a happy stone, we have plenty of natural citrine in the store and Marco does a great job of finding quality crystals to bring you ...Citrine is becoming increasingly rare so be careful when you do decide to purchase this stone. Mentally this is another stone that helps to improve concentration and revitalizes the mind. 3.HematiteHematite is a really interesting stone because it can really be used for a variety of things. It is a praturlary grounding stone in addition to being a stone of strength. Mentally this is a stone that stimulates concentration and focus, which helps to enhance memory and original thoughts. Plus, we have this stone in beautiful bracelets that has a metallic look to it, which makes this stone even more intriguing. 4. FluoriteNow we all know that I’m a sucker for a purple stone, and Fluorite is no exception. This beauty comes in a variety of colors and is associated with progress on many levels and incorporating structure into daily life. This stone helps to overcome chaos and helps to combat disorders. Plus this is the best crystal to overcome any form of disorganization (Hallelujah, I think I found my next crystal obsession) 5.HowliteHowlite is a fairly popular stone around our store, it seems as soon as Marco puts one out it goes away. That being said, Howlite stills the mind. This is a stone that helps one stay calm and helps to strengthen memory. (I’m sure I’m not the only one who could use a better memory) We hope these crystals help you in the best way possible. If you have any specific crystals you would like to learn about, leave a comment below and who knows, your topic may be the focus of our next blog post!
