We get asked all the time why we love Fusion Mineral Paint so much and today we thought we’d answer the questions we receive the most! So sit back grab your coffee and get ready to learn what makes Fusion Mineral Paint so awesome! What is the difference between Fusion Mineral Paint and a Chalk Style Paint? Fusion Mineral Paint is actually an acrylic paint that is made with all natural pigments which means it’s VOC free (basically it doesn’t stink which is great because we paint in the workshop area of our store). Plus, Fusion is kid and pet friendly so there’s no worries about painting near your family. Another BIG difference between Fusion Mineral Paint and Chalk Style paint is that Fusion is self leveling and has its own built in top coat so that means no waxing! With chalk style paint, you need to wax every piece once it’s painted and re wax every few years to ensure the same durability. Is Fusion “No Prep” like Chalk Style Paint? Ok friends, I’m going to be completely honest with you. There is NO such thing as a no prep paint. (Sorry for crushing your hopes and dreams...I really am, but we want quality here people!) No matter the type of paint, it needs something to adhere too. So if you are putting paint over a surface that was painted or dirty, the base coat may decided to wear away or chip (and you know it will because well, life....) then the paint you worked so hard to get on the piece will chip right off. Prep is so important and the better you prep a piece, the better the paint will adhere and the longer the finish will last. So no, Fusion is not a no prep piece, but really neither is any other type of paint. How do I prep my piece? We ALWAYS recommend prepping your piece with TSP. Fusion Mineral Paint has a TSP that is very concentrated which allows for powerful cleaning. We mix two capfuls in a liter of water and pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Once the piece is clean, we also recommend giving the piece a light sanding so the paint has something to adhere to. This type of prep is sufficient for most pieces, however if the piece is very shiny (like a kitchen cabinet), you would use Ultra Grip to prep the cabinets. What can you Paint with Fusion?I love getting asked this question in the store. I really do because I love to watch the expressions people have once I respond. Fusion Mineral Paint adheres to almost any surface, (within reason of course) Anyway Fusion can be used on a variety of surfaces, Furniture obviously, kitchen cabinets, front doors, etc. Now it’s the fun part! You can also use Fusion on Fabric such as pillow cases or burlap (and yes it is machine washable...how amazing is that?!?) You can also use it on leather (yes, folks you heard that right. LEATHER) people have also been known to use Fusion on shoes, purses, metal, glass teapots (decorative use ONLY) You name it, Fusion can Paint it! How far does Fusion go? One pint of Fusion covers about 75 square feet or will cover a large armoire. We generally get three projects out of a pint of Fusion, although it does depend on the color of the paint and the type of finish the piece has. Plus one pint only costs $19.99 so the value you are getting is really unheard of! I mean really, we have used Fusion Mineral Paint on ALL of our furniture pieces and have never looked back! It’s a great paint for any level painter, and we truly believe in the quality that this paint presents. Want to try Fusion Mineral Paint for yourself? Find it here. Someday I am going to start touching that paint brush again. I will not limit myself with the usual things. I am going to use old furniture's and rocks as a canvass. I would like to be unique. I think everyone wants to be like that at least once in their lives. Unfortunately where I grew up, we were made to believe that we are only born in this world to work for someone else. How cruel is that? It's like modern day slavery. The worst thing about it is we are not even aware of it. If we get a hint, we are punished for being odd.
